What is the Firesign Theatre?

The Firesign Theatre is a comedy group of four (or five) guys who first got together on radio in Los Angeles back the 60's, and created a surreal stream-of-consciousness brand of humor that has gained a popular following.

The "alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre" newsgroup

They have their own Usenet newsgroup, called alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre , which if you do not have a news-server, may also be read via one of the following Gopher-Usenet gateways:

There is also a newsgroup called "alt.fan.firesign-theatre", but it is not used much because the "firesign-theatre" string is longer than 14 characters and so it breaks some of the newsreader software.

Albums, CD's, and MUSH

Many of their old albums are still available on CD, and are put out by Mobile Fidelity

For those familiar with the Firesign Theatre stories, an online Multi-User Shell (MUSH) is available to play around with; log-in with the name "Regnad" or "Regnad Kcin" (case sensitive). Be sure to type "home" and "QUIT" when you are done!

Four-Alarm Fire-SIGNal Fanzine (FAlaFal)
